4th DATCC KL Team Open Chess Championship - Let the games begin!
The first round of the 4th DATCC KL Open Team Chess Championship started on a busy schedule with the DATCC crew running literally all over KL to help manage other events around the City. There were 4 events running concurrent with the Kastam FT Internal Sports meet being run at Kelana Jaya, Inter Audit conducted at Damansara, MTD Sports meet in Gombak and DATCC very own Team event. On a positive note, it is indeed a good "challenge" as we can see the growth of chess as a sports in the country...

After the smoke cleared, 12 teams have registered for the event with the 12th team - the Renegade Chess Team headed by Haslindah Ruslan and Wong Jianwen.
The first round of the event saw a rather balanced encounters between teams with only 1 team scoring a perfect score - PETRONAS Seahorse winning against newcomer BERNAMA Chess Team with a perfect 4-0 score on the last table.
Top seed NRT (Najib's Rojak Team) faced the Renegade team and Wong Jianwen salvaged one point for the Renegades as he triumphed over Sumant. On Board 2 Table 1, Ilham managed to tame IM Mas Hafizul with a draw and 17 Chess Club managed to steal a point fro 3rd seed Kelantan team when Haq surprisingly lost to Zambri on board 2
On table 3, Saprin managed to salvaged half a point for his Carikomputer Dot Com family team drawing with Jax on board 1. On table 4, PETRONAS Swordfish went down 1-3 against Too Less Ordinary with the former Board 2 player, Mohd Razief saving one point for the petroleum company. On table 5, Nusa Mahkota Team was half point shy of earning a perfect score when Sirajudeen of PJMIM managed to draw with Razali on board 4.
