47th Selangor Open (26/5 – 31/5)
The oldest chess tournament in the nation will be run by CAS from May 26 through May 31. Since its first iteration in 1974, the Selangor Open, which will be honouring its 47th edition this year, has had a very interesting history. An Open Section and a Challenger Section are the two categories. The top 20 finishers in this 9-round Open Section with a time limit of 90 minutes plus 30 seconds from move 1. A total cash prize of RM 13,750 (the champion will receive RM 4,000) is prepared, in addition to another RM 3,000 in Special Prizes and 12 Medals for the best schools and IPT in Malaysia. Any WIM/WGM/IM/GM and previous Selangor Open Champions who register in the Open section will receive free admission.
