Chess Events and Activities - May/June/July 2011
It will be a rather busy month from May onwards starting with the MSSM chess event held in Penang during the school break from 30th May until 6th June. After the School Event, MASUM will organize its version of the University level event hosted by UPM and tentatively scheduled from 25th June to 30th June.
Next in line is the FIDE Arbiter's Seminar, organized by MCF from 30th June to 4th July in Kuala Lumpur. The seminar will be facilitated by Mr Ignatius Leong, FIDE Secretary General who is also an experienced and well-known Arbiter.
There are plenty of weekend events to choose from during June and July, and if these events do not create your craving for more chess activities, there are more to come in the coming months.
For August, rumor has it that the Malaysia Chess Festival will go on as usual during the fasting month (just before Hari Raya break) and after that, the KLCA Open will be held from 4th September to 10th September 2011. With major public holidays falling on Friday or Sundays towards the end of the year, it will not be surprising if many chess organizers are planning to hold events during the longer weekends to attract more players especially those from out station.
As the calendar have been compiled from various sources, interested parties are advised to contact the respective organizers for confirmation or information on the events/activities listed.
