Puteri Rifqah Storms Ahead For Malaysia In World Youth Chess Championship 2010

25 October 2010, Chalkidiki, Greece – Some news of our chess warriors now battling in Porta Corras, Greece. Puteri Rifqah Fahada bt Azhar (picture below, orange shirt) has made an impact by winning her fifth and sixth round games and she is currently in the top 30 of her category (Girls Under-10). She has garnered four points, thus far and leads the Malaysian chess contingent for now.

Individual Performances of Malaysian contingent at WYCC 2010. After the sixth round, Puteri Rifqah Fahada has become our heroine for leading the contingent with a 24th placing in her Girls U10 category for Malaysia. Camilia Johari is still in the top 40 of her category despite suffering a loss in the sixth round against a 1800 rating Georgian lass. Wong Yinn Long dropped to 38th placing after a lacklustre performance in the sixth round after a loss to a local Grecian player.

Let’s hope our team of chess warriors will do better in the coming rounds. Today, Monday, 25th October 2010 is a rest day for the chess players at Porta Corras, Greece but they will be back for more rounds of play on Tuesday.
