InSoFar Tournament - 15th August 2010

The first preliminary round of the InSoFar Elite Tournament was held yesterday at DATCC. The inaugural stage attracted 8 players lead by Mohd Saprin Sabri, brothers Muhd Syakir Shazmeer and Muhd Irfan Haqqim, MCF VP Haslindah Ruslan – all seeded 1 to 4 respectively.

The tournament ended as per the seeding except for Haslindah who dropped a few places to end up in 6th place and in her place, Nicholas Law grabbed 4th spot. For his outing, Mohd Saprin garnered RM100 for his almost perfect effort (he won all his game except for one draw against Irfan in Round 3), Syakir pocketed RM80 in second place (losing to Saprin and drew with brother Irfan), and Irfan rounded up the top 3 spots with a point behind brother Syakir after a surprise loss in the last round against Mat Zaki Yeop.

The InSoFar Elite Tournament offers an enlightening format with a selected group of 32 players to slug it out to qualify for another elimination event until the final group of players is obtained to qualify for the final leg that offers prize money of more than RM2000.
