Sigh... He did it again.....
I was excited to hear Siraj voice over the phone when he said "Hey... The GM lost 3 games la"... Really ah? And with delight, I continued.... "Ha ha ha... Finally we got him!" but my joy was short lived when Siraj continued "No la.... Just joking. He is already 4 games up, and the last one, he still has 30 minutes on his clock compared to the opponent's 1 minute...."
Of course, he is not facing Mok, or Mas or Jimmy or Yee Weng or Peter or..... but, the valiant 5 that we have line up to face him last night are considered to be the 'above average' chess players in the country. May not be the cream of the crop, but somewhere up there, and playing the white pieces (having the advantage of dictating how the game should flow), I would assume that at least 1 player would be able to secure 1 point (or maybe 2 draws) but that was not the case. GM Ziaur was just too strong.
Next week, another 5 warriors will pit their wits against the GM, and again, the GM will be playing the black pieces. Whilst we are not sure who the 5 warriors are, I am quite reluctant to predict any draws (or wins - for that matter) for our warriors. The week after next, we are planning an interesting match-up by organizing an all girls team to challenge the GM and, if any of the girls can steal a point from the GM, maybe our guys can start thinking about taking a dip in the Klang River....
