GM Ziaur Simul
ZIAUR TO TAKE ON 5 JUNIOR TALENTS
Three weeks ago, a week before the National Championship starts, and a week after the DATCC League concluded, DATCC embarked on a weekly simul challenge for its resident GM - a clock simul between 5 contenders against the Sifu.
During the first week, he easily dismissed the Nusa Mahkota Team with a score of 5-0. It was quite apparent that the combined brain of the 5 Nusa Mahkota champions were not able to dent the GM prowess over the board.
Last week, another 5 players took up the challenge and somehow, this time around, it was not as easy as it was the week earlier as Mohd Fairin Zakari managed to steal half a point from the GM - 4.5-0.5 in favor of the GM
Tomorrow, another group of 5 players comprising of some of our leading junior players - Mohd Izz Saifuddin, Lim Zhuo Ren, Tan Ken Wei, Yeap Eng Chiam and Yat Guo Jie, will take up the challenge to do better than the previous groups. Whilst the eventual result will definitely be in Ziaur's favor (I am sure of this), how much of a dent can the juniors create in their quest to beat the master. My prediction - 4 points to Ziaur against 1 point for the Juniors. No losses but 2 draws and 3 wins in favor of Mr Rahman. Anyone want to bet?
