Mayday Mayday - Its Going To Be A Busy May!!

Its bigger, its wider, its DATCC!!!!

With double its size than before, DATCC can now boast of being the largest chess center in Malaysia that can easily fit 120 chess enthusiasts at any one time. Push comes to shove, it can probably fit 150 players if needed.

With the recent conclusion of the Selangor Open Championship - one of the country's longest chess championship still running today, and the completion of the center's renovation works - minus some decorative and final touches to be added later on, DATCC is going into full throttle with an array of events line up for the month of May.

DATCC has been fully booked for May with all the weekend being taken up for Chess events, from Blitz to Rapid, and Team Event and Individual events:

Starting with this Sunday, May 9th 2010, Stonemaster's Fadli Zakaria will be holding the StoneMaster 10 minutes blitz event over 10 rounds. Information for this event can be found at http://stonemaster.info/

The following Sunday, May 16th 2010, DATCC will hold the Sizzling Rapid Chess Weekend which follows the same format of its previous rapid series, Razzle Dazzle Rapid. There are added prizes for Veterans Over-45 and Unrated players apart from the usual prizes for Best Ladies, Best U-12, Best National Rating below 1600 and below 1400.

DATCC will also hold its first Team Event on 29th and 30th May, with a time control of 1-hour to finish. Games are over 6 rounds Swiss System with teams to be paired based on match points and not game points, as per usual practice. For both the Rapid and Team events, enthusiasts can contact Hamid Majid at +6019 315 8098 (aham@pc.jaring.my) or Najib Wahab at +6016 338 2542 (najib.wahab@chess-malaysia.com)

To top it off for May, on Sunday, 23rd May 2010, CAS (Chess Association of Selangor) will hold its CAS Closed Chess Championship and also its AGM during the event. As this event is open only to CAS members, please contact Lim Tse Pin at tsepin@gmail.com for more information and clarification if you would like to participate

All in all, it will be a busy month for DATCC and chess!
