KLK BERHAD PERAK GRAND PRIX - GM Ziaur Rahman
The TAN SRI LEE LOY SENG KLK Berhad Perak Grand Prix started off with a huge start at the Ipoh Sports Complex with 187 participants and amongst the participants is GM Ziaur Rahman, his first taste in the local Malaysian scene.
The 7 rounds swiss rapid started off with a 15 minutes delay at 9:45am but was eventually concluded just in time for the 5:30 closing ceremony.
The TAN SRI LEE LOY SENG KLK Berhad Perak Grand Prix will now move to Taiping and with a total of 9 legs in store, the Grand Prix is set to hit major towns around the State of Perak in the next few months.
In the inaugural leg, GM Ziaur Rahman emerged as the outright champion with 7 points out of 7 games. With 187 participants and only 7 rounds of play, there was a possibility that there would be 2 champions with the same point but a draw between Ahmad Fadzil Nayan and Tan Khai Boon in the penultimate round allows GM Ziaur to seal the title to himself with a win against Fong Yit San who ended up as the U16 Champion (and 4th overall)
