Round 8 Results, Team AU Prevails!

The eighth round of the 2nd DATCC Chess League 2009 took placed at the 4th Floor, Car Park, Wilayah Complex, Jalan Munshi Abdullah, Kuala Lumpur in the evening of the 29th December 2009.

In the clash of titans, Team AU prevailed with a 2.5:1.5 win over Caviaga. Three boards ended with draws. It was the third board between Abdullah Che Hassan and Soon Wai Cheong, which decided the match. Abdullah lost to Soon Wai Cheong.

Two matches ended in identical draws of 2-2. These were between EON Bank Bhd and Nusa Mahkota, and between Price WaterHouse and 17 Chess Club.

Meanwhile X-factor had to struggle to get a 2.5:1.5 win over Storm Warriors. Mok Tze-Meng and Lim Zhou Ren made sure of their respective board wins for X-factor.

Bottom of the table match between DATCC and Tan & Tan was a let down as DATCC won three forfeit board wins against the non-attendance of Tan & Tan players. The lone third board play between two well-known chess arbiters, Najib Wahab (DATCC) and Abdul Hamid Majid (Tan & Tan) ended in a draw giving DATCC a 3.5:0.5 win over Tan & Tan.

The last ninth round of the chess league will be played next Tuesday, 5th January 2010, 7 pm, DATCC, Wilayah Complex, Kuala Lumpur.
