Nik Faruki wins Blitz, Malaysia Inter State Chess Championship 2009


The full results of the blitz tournament in conjunction with Malaysia Inter-State Chess Championship 2009 in Sibu, Sarawak just popped in into my email box, courtesy of En. Abdul Hamid Majid, arbiter of the event. Congratulations to the Blitz Champion, Nik Ahmad Faruki!

A total of 42 players participated in this blitz side show to the main team event of the Inter-State team chess championship.

Nik Faruki turn out tops with 8 points from 9 rounds of blitz chess game. In second place is Abdul Haq, third, Lim Zhou Ren, both with 7 points from 9 rounds. 4th-10th were as follows:- Kamaluddin Yusof, Abd Sahim, Leong Mun Wan, Fairin Zakaria, Ahmad Afiq, Ong Thian Loon and Tan Ken Wei.

Abdullah Che Hasan, Caviaga team player, was in 15th position with 5 points. Syed Iskandar, our northern region chess blogger, ended with 4 points in 27th position, Lim Kim Hwa, the organiser from Sarawak, with 3 points in 35th position.


Congratulations to all winners and participating players at the Malaysia Inter-State Chess Championship 2009 held at Sibu, Sarawak from 25th – 27th December 2009. Hope that you had all enjoyed yourselves at the tournament and blitz side show in Sarawak.
